The corrosion appears orange with some small mushroom like structures rising from the surface. In some cases silver appears to be plated onto the pin surface but thisis easilly removed using the tip of another pin.
The corrosion covers the area of contact uniformly.
The pins are manufactured from a mild steel and the fabric undergoes quite severe mechanical stress during processing. No heat is used and unfortunatly the fabric is still under development so I can't reveal it's nature.
