Usually, the mold, screw, and barrel are made from the same tool steels as the steels used to produce plastic parts. Your injection molding machine manufacturer and mold maker should have the best recommendation to fit your situation. What type of parts do you want to manufacture? What alloy are the parts made from? This alloy and part desighn might affect the steel used in the mold.
