Yes, this X-ray image-intensifier tube was
originally designed and used for medical imaging.
This X-ray image-intensifier tube is mounted in an
original factory designed enclosure. It contains a
lead shielding all around (in order to minimize the background level) and this enclosure also contains the system and two controls for the required high-voltages to drive this tube.
Input voltage: 15 DC at 2.5 Amp.
Video camera :
Most high resolution cameras (not supplied) with
a sensitivity of 0.2 lux maybe made to fit. For more info about original cameras that will fit this device see Thompson* catalog: TH 8730-001 or TH 8730 011

The date of manufacturing is probably somewhere
on the intensifier's glass envelope. As explained in the above, this tube is located inside a shielded container. I don't want to mess with a nice working device just to find a manufacturing date. See Thompson* info below, maybe they can suggest some manufacturing dates.
Since image-intensifier tubes contain no filament there is really nothing internally that can be damaged. With the proper high voltage - these tubes can last a very, very long time.
Circumference of container...~105.5 cm.
Height (add extra for camera or PMT).. ~50 cm
Weight...I am guessing...close to 36 kg.
(I will measure it on a scale soon.)
For sale at Can $2000.00 (Shipping extra,
taxes added where required by law)
Please note: video camera is NOT included.
I was told by a sales person from Thompson (Montreal)that the new image-intensifier TH 9429 HP2 replacement for this unit has a value of about Canadian $18,000.00.
