Sorry about posting this in the x-ray forum, but I figured since they need transformers, perhaps they're like the neon transformers.

I recently purchased a neon transformer just to play around with. It's made by Martial Electric, and is the model "ME 59-26", with an Input of 120VAC, 60hz, 1.5A and and Output of 2-6KVAC, 30mA. I didn't want this for actually powering a neon sign, just for making some neat sparks. At first, I could get it to spark 2 pieces of tinfoil, but now, it won't spark at all. I don't know anything about neon transformers, but it occured to me because this is a variable output one (automatic), it may have a circuit that breaks off the output is not made (did I mention I know nothing about electronics, electricity, or how it works, so if I'm way off here I'm sorry) or maybe I broke it somehow. Right now, it looks pretty dead. I can probably take pictures of the guts of this thing if I can find a screwdriver to get the screws off, if that would help. Any ideas?
