When labels are heated up, any trapped organic materials may volatilize (VOC's or Volatile Organic Compounds). They will want to boil off, creating the "gas" in "outgas". AS you'd expect this would be worse in the reduced pressure (absolute vacuum) of outer space. There is an ASTM spec..ASTM E595. Check on our website www.polyonics.com..I believe there is a discussion of the NASA requirement and spec's for all materials, not just kapton labels.
