The most widely known synthetic auto transmission fluid is Mobil. Or today it may be called Exxon - Mobil.
Transmission fluids, unlike engine oils, are not designed to eliminate friction. Rather, they are designed to control it.
The synthetic is designed with flow characterisitcs and behavioral properties so that it both reduces friction during flow and controls it. The synthetic will also be more thermally stable (longer lasting) than a standard ATF.
If your car has a manual transmission, synthetics are available from the same source. As well as the fast lube places.
Always check with the car maker to ensure synthetic compatability with transmission materials.
