I'm just an average schmo. I don't know what Toyota considers reasonable maintenance. I have always tried to change the oil on my car at least every 7 thousand miles or so, which I realize is much longer than many. But I put too many miles on my cars to pay for 3 thousand mile changes.

My guess is that Toyota may require some type of proof that you have kept up with required oil changes. Do you log your oil changes in a book somewhere?
