The greatest improvements identified are based on control valves opening strategies. Selecting a valve position that allows even heating around the nozzle block with the maximum number of valves open results in less thermal stress, and throttling losses. However, if loads are maintained at very low levels for exteneded periods, flow in the Reheaters are deminished to a point that slight load increases are required to cool the Reheater to maintain normal steam temperatures.
